According to a recent survey by Polachi, Inc., 77% of venture capital executives have increased confidence and optimism about their industry this year from that of last year. Additionally, over 90% reported that their firms would be hiring this year.

Respondents were positive on the investment opportunities on the west coast, specifically Silicon Valley, wherein VC optimism has been seeing a marked increase from previous years. When asked to comment on specific sectors of venture capital that they expected to see the most success, respondents were decidedly in favor of Consumer Internet/Web 2.0 with 74% of execs. This was followed by a relatively modest response of Internet Marketing (39%) and Enterprise/Infrastructure (14%). Remarkably, clean technology actually marked the lowest, with only 12% of respondents showing enthusiasm for the market.
